Ciudad de Providence anuncia tarifas de invierno para el Programa de Electricidad Comunitaria de Providence

The City of Providence announced new winter electricity rates for its Providence Community Electricity program, effective from the November 2026 meter read through April 2027. The default residential rate will be 16.929 cents per kWh, which is lower than Rhode Island Energy’s Last Resort Service rate of 17.029 cents per kWh, while providing 5% more clean energy sourced locally from Rhode Island projects such as wind turbines and solar farms. Customers already enrolled in the program will automatically receive the new rates without needing to take action. Additionally, participants will benefit from bill credits mandated by Governor McKee’s Executive Order and the RI Energy Hold Harmless settlement, including roughly $20 credits for January through March and $14 credits starting in October 2026, helping keep winter bills at or below summer levels despite rising supply costs. The program allows participants to switch between electricity options or exit without penalties at any time. Low-income customers receive a 25-30% discount on their total electricity bills. More information and pricing details are available on the program’s website.
