PPAC Celebrates the 2025/2026 Ocean State Star Awards Winners

The Providence Performing Arts Center (PPAC) announced the winners of the 2025/2026 Ocean State Star Awards (OSSA), celebrating excellence in high school musical theatre across Rhode Island and southeastern Massachusetts. The awards honor students and educators in performance and technical categories from 22 high schools and 29 musicals. Six productions received the top award for Outstanding Musical: Bishop Hendricken High School’s The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical, Joseph Case High School’s Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, South Kingstown High School’s The Prom, St. Mary Academy – Bay View’s Shrek the Musical, and West Warwick High School’s Anastasia and The Theory of Relativity. Individual awards recognized lead actors, ensemble performers, and technical achievements such as directing, choreography, and design. The winners will be celebrated during a live Showcase at PPAC on May 3, 2026, featuring performances from the top musicals. The event will conclude with the announcement of Outstanding Lead Performers who will represent Rhode Island at the national Jimmy Awards® in New York City, a prestigious platform for emerging Broadway talent. El Providence Performing Arts Center (PPAC) anunció a los ganadores de los Ocean State Star Awards (OSSA) 2025/2026, que reconocen el talento y dedicación de estudiantes y educadores en teatro musical de secundaria en Rhode Island y el sureste de Massachusetts. Este año participaron 22 escuelas con 29 producciones, evaluadas en 18 categorías por un jurado de expertos.

Seis musicales recibieron el máximo galardón a Mejor Musical: “The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical” de Bishop Hendricken High School, “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” de Joseph Case High School, “The Prom” de South Kingstown High School, “Shrek the Musical” de St. Mary Academy – Bay View, y dos obras de West Warwick High School, “Anastasia” y “The Theory of Relativity”. Además, se premiaron a 20 actrices y 15 actores principales destacados, junto con reconocimientos en actuación, danza y técnica, incluyendo dirección, diseño y música.

Los ganadores serán homenajeados en un espectáculo en vivo el domingo 3 de mayo de 2026 en PPAC, donde se presentarán números musicales de cinco de los seis mejores shows.
