Phyllis L. “Honey” (Brown) Cantrell, aged 89, passed away peacefully on September 7, 2026, at the HopeHealth Hulitar Center in Providence, Rhode Island. Born in Providence on January 22, 1937, she was the daughter of David C. Brown and Frances T. Brown. Phyllis graduated from Hope High School and dedicated nearly 30 years as an executive administrative assistant for the State of Rhode Island. A devoted Christian, she was an active member of Allen AME Church in Providence for over 15 years, serving in the Usher Ministry and as Administrative Assistant to Rev. Dr. Marlowe V. N. Washington. Between 2004 and 2022, she lived in Ellenwood, Georgia, where she engaged with local senior centers and gained recognition for her quilt-making talents. Most recently, she was affiliated with Tabernacle of Praise Church International in McDonough, Georgia. Phyllis is survived by her children, siblings, nine grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by several siblings.
