Mayor Brett Smiley, the Rhode Island Foundation, and The Washington Trust Company have announced the return of the Rhode Island Philharmonic Orchestra’s Summer Pops concert at Roger Williams Park on Wednesday, August 5, 2026. The free event, starting at 7:00 pm at the Temple to Music, offers a family-friendly evening of live music with a rain date set for August 6. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or picnic blankets and enjoy food from various onsite food trucks serving local and international cuisine. This year’s program, titled “Outstanding Overtures,” features beloved overtures from Broadway, film, and classical music, performed by a 69-piece orchestra conducted by Troy Quinn. During intermission, the Rhode Island Foundation will present three awards recognizing community and civic leadership. The event is supported by local organizations including the Providence Department of Art, Culture and Tourism, and offers free parking throughout the park. Mayor Smiley and event partners highlight the concert as a cherished tradition that brings the community together in one of Rhode Island’s most scenic outdoor venues.
El alcalde de Providence, Brett Smiley, junto a la Rhode Island Foundation y The Washington Trust Company, anunciaron la realización del concierto gratuito Rhode Island Philharmonic Orchestra’s Summer Pops en Roger Williams Park el miércoles 5 de agosto de 2026, con fecha alternativa el jueves 6 en caso de lluvia. El evento, que inicia a las 7:00 pm en el Temple to Music, es una tradición veraniega muy esperada que reúne a familias y visitantes para disfrutar música en vivo en un entorno al aire libre emblemático del estado. Este año, el programa titulado Outstanding Overtures incluye overturas destacadas de Broadway, cine y música clásica, interpretadas por una orquesta de 69 músicos bajo la dirección de Troy Quinn. Durante el intermedio se entregarán tres premios anuales de la Rhode Island Foundation: Community Leadership Award a Conexion Latina Newport, Civic Leadership Award a Peter Chung y The Trailblazer Award a Pamela Johnston.
