Mayor Brett Smiley Invites the Public to Tree Lighting, PVD Holiday Fest
El Alcalde Brett Smiley Invita Al Encendido Del Árbol Y Festival Navideño En Pvd
Providence Mayor Brett Smiley, along with the Department of Art, Culture and Tourism and the Providence Tourism Council, is inviting the public to join the PVD Holiday Fest running through December 7. The festival features a variety of events across Downtown Providence and Federal Hill, centered around the City Hall Tree Lighting on December 6. The tree lighting event includes afternoon and evening entertainment at the Providence Rink with DJs and performances by local choirs and the headliner Nova One. Santa will make a festive arrival for the countdown to the tree lighting.
Additional highlights of the festival include a free ice performance by Le Patin Libre, guided holiday mural tours, a festive holiday stroll with live performers, a partial WaterFire lighting with activities, Christmas on the Hill celebrations, and Pneufest featuring large-scale sculptures and music. The PVD Downcity Holiday Market offers vendors, entertainment, and family activities throughout the weekend. A special Downtown Trolley will provide free rides on December 6 to connect attendees to key event locations. Two-hour free parking is also available through January 1 to support local businesses during the holiday season.
El alcalde de Providence, Brett P. Smiley, junto con el Departamento de Arte, Cultura y Turismo y el Providence Tourism Council, invitan a residentes y visitantes a participar en el PVD Holiday Fest, una celebración festiva que se extiende hasta el 7 de diciembre con múltiples actividades en el centro de la ciudad y Federal Hill. El evento principal será el encendido del árbol de Navidad en el Ayuntamiento el sábado 6 de diciembre, acompañado de presentaciones musicales, la llegada de Santa Claus y entretenimiento en la pista de hielo Providence Rink durante todo el día.
Entre las actividades destacadas se incluyen la presentación gratuita de la obra “Glide” en la pista de hielo, recorridos guiados por murales navideños, un paseo festivo con la Providence Drum Troupe, y la iluminación parcial de WaterFire con Santa y espectáculos itinerantes. Además, habrá eventos en Christmas on the Hill y Pneufest en Burnside Park, así como un mercado navideño con artistas y pequeños negocios locales en Grant’s Block.
Para facilitar la movilidad, se ofrecerá un servicio especial de tranvía gratuito el 6 de diciembre, y el estacionamiento medido en áreas comerciales será gratuito por dos horas hasta el 1 de enero, apoyando así a los comerciantes locales durante la temporada navideña.
