WaterFire Providence has announced the fifth cohort of its WaterFire Accelerate program, a year-long initiative supporting artists under 30 in Rhode Island. Funded by the U.S. Department of Labor, the program offers mentorship, professional training, and opportunities to help emerging artists develop sustainable creative careers while remaining in the state. The 2026 cohort features six diverse artists—Aja Delgado, Pamela Fernández, Leia Fifer, Yasmine Hassan, Amelia Rozear, and Rachel Turner—working across mediums such as printmaking, mixed media, film photography, and illustration. The artists will participate in monthly meetings, events, and site visits, culminating in a group exhibition at the WaterFire Arts Center gallery in Fall 2026. Selection was made by a committee of regional arts professionals, WaterFire staff, and alumni, including members from the RISD Museum and Rhode Island School of Design. The program continues to grow in popularity, reflecting a strong local demand for pathways that support early-career artists in building long-term creative and professional networks within Rhode Island.
WaterFire Providence ha anunciado la quinta cohorte del programa WaterFire Accelerate 2026, una iniciativa anual de desarrollo profesional dirigida a artistas menores de 30 años que buscan construir carreras creativas sostenibles en Rhode Island. Apoyado por el Departamento de Trabajo de EE. UU., el programa ofrece mentoría, formación profesional y oportunidades prácticas para fortalecer tanto la práctica artística como las habilidades empresariales de los participantes. Este año, seis jóvenes artistas fueron seleccionados: Aja Delgado, Pamela Fernández, Leia Fifer, Yasmine Hassan, Amelia Rozear y Rachel Turner, quienes trabajan en diversas disciplinas como ilustración, fotografía analógica, medios mixtos y grabado. La cohorte iniciará sus actividades este mes y concluirá con una exposición colectiva en la galería WaterFire Arts Center en otoño de 2026. La selección fue realizada por un comité integrado por profesionales del arte regional, personal de WaterFire y exalumnos del programa. WaterFire Accelerate responde a la creciente necesidad de apoyar a artistas emergentes en Rhode Island, facilitando su permanencia y desarrollo profesional en la región, y consolidando redes creativas a largo plazo.
