Ronald F. Lewis, retired Detective Sergeant of the Providence Police Department, passed away on September 13, 2026, at age 85. Born in Providence to Frank and Helen Lewis, Ron proudly served in the United States Air Force before embarking on a distinguished law enforcement career. He dedicated over 20 years to the Providence Police, rising to the rank of Detective Sergeant. After retiring, he founded R.F. Lewis Private Investigation, continuing his commitment to investigative work.

Ron valued family above all, cherishing his role as a dependable father to his daughters Marcia, Cynthia, Theresa, and the late Deborah. He was a proud grandfather to nine and great-grandfather to six, often sharing joyful moments with his great-grandchildren despite his usual reluctance to be photographed. For 30 years, Ron enjoyed life by the water in Jamestown, where he loved boating, fishing, and supporting the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots. He is survived by siblings Kathleen Caron and Gary Lewis. Donations in his memory may be made to Tunnels to Towers.
