Mayor Brett Smiley, the Rhode Island Foundation, and The Washington Trust Company have announced the return of the Rhode Island Philharmonic Orchestra’s Summer Pops concert at Roger Williams Park on Wednesday, August 5, 2026. The free event, held at the Temple to Music starting at 7:00 pm, features a 69-piece orchestra performing “Outstanding Overtures” from Broadway, film, and classical music, conducted by Troy Quinn. A rain date is scheduled for August 6. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets and enjoy food trucks offering diverse cuisines. During intermission, the Rhode Island Foundation will present three awards: the Community Leadership Award to Conexion Latina Newport, the Civic Leadership Award to Peter Chung of Young Voices, and the Trailblazer Award to Pamela Johnston of Ocean State Media. The event is supported by local organizations including the Providence Department of Art, Culture and Tourism and the Roger Williams Park Conservancy. Free parking is available, and the concert aims to foster community spirit through shared cultural experiences in one of Rhode Island’s most scenic outdoor venues.
El alcalde de Providence, Brett Smiley, junto con la Rhode Island Foundation y The Washington Trust Company, anunciaron el regreso del concierto gratuito Summer Pops de la Rhode Island Philharmonic Orchestra en Roger Williams Park, programado para el miércoles 5 de agosto de 2026. El evento, que comenzará a las 7:00 pm en el Temple to Music, contará con una presentación de dos sets de 40 minutos dirigidos por el director Troy Quinn y ofrecerá un repertorio titulado Outstanding Overtures, con overturas populares de Broadway, cine y música clásica. En caso de lluvia, el concierto se pospondrá al jueves 6 de agosto. Los asistentes podrán disfrutar de la música al aire libre, llevando sillas o mantas, y también tendrán acceso a food trucks con diversas opciones gastronómicas.
