Rita Faye Gaston-Balogun of Providence, Rhode Island, passed away on July 20, 2026. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, known for her warmth, humility, and selflessness. Rita is survived by her husband of 41 years, Kazeem Balogun; four children—Shanaye Rezendes, Emmanuel Balogun, Elizabeth Faboyede, and Abraham Balogun; eight grandchildren; her parents Edna Mitchell and Nathaniel Gaston; two sisters, Wanda and Wendy; and seven nieces and nephews. She cherished spending time with her large family, especially enjoying the lively atmosphere created by her grandchildren and quiet moments with her husband and sisters. Visiting hours will be held on July 30 at A.A. Mariani & Son Funeral Home, followed by a Memorial Service and Celebration of Life at Central Congregational Church in Providence. Burial will be private. Rita’s legacy is marked by her loving nature and dedication to family, leaving a lasting impact on all who knew her.
