Ppac Anuncia Cinco Nuevas Escuelas Seleccionadas Para El Programa Disney Musicals In Schools
The Providence Performing Arts Center (PPAC) has announced five public elementary and middle schools selected to participate in the 2026 Disney Musicals in Schools program, which offers free musical theater residencies to schools with at least 40% of students on free or reduced lunch. The chosen schools are Achievement First Iluminar Mayoral Academy Elementary (Cranston), Governor Christopher DelSesto Middle (Providence), Joseph Jenks Middle (Pawtucket), Tiogue Elementary (Coventry), and Veazie Street Elementary (Providence). Middle schools will engage in a 22-week residency while elementary schools will have 17 weeks starting January 2026. Each school receives performance rights, educational materials, and guidance from teaching artists, culminating in a school musical production. Teachers receive professional development to support producing, directing, and choreographing the shows. The program concludes with a Student Share Celebration at PPAC’s historic venue, where students perform for their communities. Since 2018, 16 Rhode Island schools have participated, benefiting over 450 students and 65 teachers. Disney Musicals in Schools aims to provide equitable arts access and foster skills like teamwork, communication, and confidence through musical theater.
