The Providence Eye, in collaboration with Community Libraries of Providence, has hosted nine out of eleven City Council Candidate forums ahead of the September 9 Primary Election. These forums, held at various local libraries across Providence, provided residents the opportunity to hear directly from candidates and engage with their policy positions. Recordings of each forum are now available online, along with key takeaways and additional local reporting. The forums covered multiple wards, including Ward 1 at Fox Point Library, Ward 3 at Rochambeau Library, Ward 4 at Wanskuck Library, Ward 5 and Ward 6 at Mount Pleasant Library, Ward 10 at Washington Park Library, Ward 11 at South Providence Library, Ward 12 at Smith Hill Library, and Ward 13 at Federal Hill House Community Hub. The initiative aims to increase voter awareness and participation by making candidate discussions accessible to all constituents, especially those unable to attend in person. The Providence Eye encourages voters to watch the recordings to make informed decisions in the upcoming election.
En las semanas previas a las elecciones primarias del 9 de septiembre de 2026, The Providence Eye, en colaboración con Community Libraries of Providence (CLPVD), ha organizado foros con candidatos al Concejo Municipal en diferentes barrios de Providence. Estos encuentros, realizados en bibliotecas comunitarias, permitieron a los residentes conocer directamente a los aspirantes y plantearles preguntas sobre sus propuestas y políticas. Hasta la fecha, se han llevado a cabo nueve de los once foros programados, cubriendo distritos como Ward 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, 10, 11, 12 y 13. Cada sesión fue grabada y está disponible en video para quienes no pudieron asistir, junto con resúmenes y análisis adicionales publicados por The Providence Eye y medios locales asociados.
