Mayor Brett Smiley, Councilman Juan Pichardo, and the Providence Department of Art, Culture and Tourism, alongside FirstWorks, announced the first performers for PVDFest 2026, scheduled for September 18-19 in Downtown Providence. The festival will feature a diverse lineup of music, performance, food, visual art, and cultural experiences across key downtown locations including Kennedy Plaza and Burnside Park. Headlining the event is Big Freedia, the acclaimed New Orleans artist known as the Queen of Bounce, who will perform on the main stage on September 19 at 8:30 pm. Other announced performers include Grammy Award-winning Fox Point native Butch Tavares and the salsa orchestra La Excelencia. Ahead of the main festival, a PVDFest Spotlight event will take place on June 27 at the PVD FanZone in Station Park, featuring live music, interactive activities, and a chance to sample a new PVDFest-inspired ice cream flavor. The preview event will also host FIFA World Cup watch parties, combining cultural celebration with community engagement. Organizers emphasize PVDFest’s role in showcasing Providence’s creativity and diversity through world-class talent and local partnerships.
El alcalde de Providence, Brett Smiley, junto al concejal Juan Pichardo y el Departamento de Arte, Cultura y Turismo, en colaboración con FirstWorks, anunciaron los primeros artistas para PVDFest 2026, el festival emblemático de la ciudad que celebra el arte, la cultura y la comunidad. El evento se realizará el 18 y 19 de septiembre en el centro de Providence, abarcando espacios como Kennedy Plaza, Providence Rink y Burnside Park, y ofrecerá música, artes visuales, gastronomía y experiencias culturales.
La artista principal será Big Freedia, reconocida figura de la cultura de Nueva Orleans y reina indiscutible del bounce, quien se presentará el sábado 19 a las 8:30 pm en el escenario principal. También participarán el ganador del Grammy Butch Tavares, oriundo de Fox Point y referente del R&B y soul estadounidense, y La Excelencia, una destacada orquesta de salsa dura con alcance internacional.
Previo al festival, el 27 de junio se realizará un PVDFest Spotlight en el PVD FanZone de Station Park, con música en vivo, actividades interactivas y la oportunidad de probar un nuevo sabor de helado inspirado en el festival. Además, se ofrecerán transmisiones de partidos de la Copa Mundial de la FIFA en el mismo espacio. La programación busca reflejar la diversidad y energía artística que caracterizan a Providence.
