Mayor Brett P. Smiley announced that the City of Providence is accepting nominations for the 23rd annual Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Hall of Fame. This event honors civic leaders who embody Dr. King’s legacy by promoting justice, equity, and civil rights within the Providence community. Mayor Smiley emphasized the importance of recognizing individuals who contribute to making Providence a welcoming and inclusive city. Nominations must be submitted by December 22 and should highlight how the nominee reflects Dr. King’s commitment to service and social justice. Eligible nominees must either reside in Providence or have made significant community contributions there. Letters of nomination should be no longer than two pages and can be sent electronically to HRC@providenceri.gov or mailed to the Providence Human Relations Commission at City Hall. This annual ceremony celebrates those who advance Dr. King’s vision through their dedication to equity and community service in Providence.
