Florence Joyce (Shindler) Nachbar, 86, of Providence, passed away on July 21, 2026, at HopeHealth Hulitar Hospice Center. Born and raised in Providence, she later lived in Pawtucket before returning to Providence. A 1958 graduate of Hope High School, Florence was married to the late Leon Nachbar since 1963. She was actively involved in community service, notably volunteering with the Jewish organization B’nai B’rith and assisting at the Pawtucket Police Station on Christmas to allow staff time with their families. She also volunteered at Samuel Slater Middle School in Pawtucket. Florence enjoyed gardening and cherished family gatherings, especially during Rosh Hashanah and Thanksgiving. She is survived by her two sons, Neil and Harris Nachbar, her grandson Samuel Joseph Nachbar, and several nieces and nephews. She was the younger sister of the late Phyllis Weiner.

Nacida y criada en Providence, fue hija de Samuel y Helen Shindler y vivió en Pawtucket antes de regresar a Providence. Estuvo casada con Leon Nachbar desde 1963, quien ya había fallecido. Florence se graduó de Hope High School en 1958 y fue una activa integrante de la organización judía B’nai B’rith. Entre sus actividades de voluntariado destacaba atender llamadas en la estación de policía de Pawtucket durante Navidad para que los empleados pudieran estar con sus familias, además de colaborar en la escuela secundaria Samuel Slater. Amante de la jardinería y de cuidar su hogar, disfrutaba especialmente de reunir a su familia en celebraciones como Rosh Hashanah y Thanksgiving. Le sobreviven sus dos hijos, Neil y Harris Nachbar, su nieto Samuel Joseph Nachbar, así como varios sobrinos y sobrinas. Fue hermana menor de la fallecida Phyllis Weiner.
