Providence’s Federal Hill, known as “Little Italy,” offers year-round cultural and culinary experiences through a series of seasonal events. In June, the Saint Joseph’s Festival honors the patron saint of workers and families with contests, vendors, live music, and family activities, encouraging attendees to wear red in tribute. From June to September, “Al Fresco on the Hill” transforms Atwells Avenue into an open-air dining area with local restaurants serving outdoors accompanied by live entertainment. August brings the Federal Hill Summer Festival, a three-day celebration featuring diverse food, music on two stages, and artisan vendors. October’s Columbus Day Festival is the neighborhood’s signature event, spanning four days with over 80 vendors, games, rides, live music, cooking demonstrations, and a traditional parade. During November and December, “Christmas on the Hill” turns the area into a festive winter wonderland with European-style Rima lights—the first in the U.S.—carolers, and a tree lighting ceremony, creating a charming holiday atmosphere. These events showcase Federal Hill’s vibrant Italian-American culture and community spirit throughout the year.
