The City of Providence is marking Small Business Month in May 2026 with its “Found in Providence” campaign, encouraging residents and visitors to explore local small businesses across various neighborhoods. Each week, the city will release clues on social media to guide participants to different locations, offering a chance to discover new spots, revisit favorites, and win prizes. To support this initiative, Providence is offering free two-hour parking on weekends—Friday through Sunday—throughout May in multiple districts including Downtown, Federal Hill, College Hill, and others. While parking meter violations will be waived during these times, the two-hour parking limit will remain enforced to ensure fair access. Alongside free parking, participating businesses will hold sidewalk sales and extend their hours. The campaign covers numerous areas such as Broad Street, Fox Point, Hope Street, the Jewelry/Innovation District, RiverWalk, Silver Lake/Olneyville, Smith Hill, and Wayland Square. This effort aims to boost local commerce by making it easier and more appealing to visit Providence’s diverse small business communities during Small Business Month.
La ciudad de Providence celebra el Mes de las Pequeñas Empresas con la iniciativa “Found in Providence”, que invita a residentes y visitantes a descubrir negocios locales y distintos vecindarios. Durante mayo de 2026, los fines de semana (de viernes a domingo) se ofrecerá estacionamiento gratuito por dos horas en varias zonas comerciales de la ciudad, incluyendo Broad Street, College Hill, Downtown, Federal Hill, Fox Point, Hope Street, el Distrito de Joyería e Innovación, RiverWalk, Silver Lake/Olneyville y Smith Hill, entre otras. Esta medida busca facilitar el acceso a las tiendas y fomentar la economía local, complementándose con ventas en aceras, horarios extendidos y otras promociones en los comercios participantes. Aunque no se emitirán multas por el uso del parquímetro durante el estacionamiento gratuito, se mantendrán los límites de dos horas para asegurar la rotación y disponibilidad de espacios.
