In winter 2026, ACT launched a new scholarship program in partnership with the Fine Arts Work Center (FAWC) in Provincetown, Massachusetts, to support Providence writers. The program awards four local writers with scholarships to attend a weeklong summer writing workshop at FAWC, covering tuition, housing, and a $500 stipend for travel and food expenses. The inaugural recipients are Justice Ameer (poetry), Sean Richardson (creative nonfiction/essay), Vikki Warner (nonfiction/essay), and Ellen Zahniser (performance writing). These writers were selected by a panel of local writers and ACT staff. FAWC’s summer workshops, taught by nationally recognized authors, offer a rich environment of creative writing instruction alongside public readings and artist talks. The program aims to foster the growth of Providence’s literary community by providing access to FAWC’s prestigious workshops free of charge. Each selected writer brings a unique background and voice, contributing to the diversity and vibrancy of the cohort. This initiative marks ACT’s commitment to nurturing local talent and expanding opportunities for emerging writers.
La organización ACT lanzó en invierno de 2026 un programa de becas en colaboración con el Fine Arts Work Center (FAWC) de Provincetown, Massachusetts, para apoyar a escritores de Providence. Cuatro autores locales fueron seleccionados para participar en un taller intensivo de escritura de una semana durante el verano en FAWC, sin costo alguno. Los beneficiarios son Justice Ameer, Sean Richardson, Vikki Warner y Ellen Zahniser, quienes recibirán matrícula gratuita, alojamiento y un estipendio de 500 dólares para cubrir gastos de transporte y alimentación.
El programa de FAWC ofrece 36 talleres creativos durante nueve semanas, impartidos por escritores reconocidos a nivel nacional, como Terrence Hayes y Carmen Maria Machado, y complementados con lecturas y eventos abiertos al público.
