PVD Banned Book Club
Club de Lectura de Libros Prohibidos PVD
In 2023 over 4,000 unique titles have been either banned or challenged across the country. These book bans tend to target subjects concerning Race and LGBTQ+ topics. However, those challenging the books are stating they’re harmful to children, offensive, vulgar and even pornographic.
PVD Banned Books Club wants to know what’s really going on- are these books dangerous? Or is there more happening behind the curtain? Together we hope to have open, honest, and respectful conversations about the book ban phenomenon and explore what happens when we allow censorship to take storm.
This is an open forum about book topics, characters, and issues that are being deemed controversial. Some reads are easy, and some topics can be heavy, but we consider them all necessary.

En 2023, más de 4,000 títulos únicos han sido prohibidos o desafiados en todo el país. Estas prohibiciones de libros tienden a enfocarse en temas relacionados con la raza y LGBTQ+. Sin embargo, quienes desafían los libros afirman que son dañinos para los niños, ofensivos, vulgares e incluso pornográficos.
El Club de Libros Prohibidos de PVD quiere saber qué está pasando realmente: ¿son estos libros peligrosos? ¿O hay algo más sucediendo detrás del telón? Juntos esperamos tener conversaciones abiertas, honestas y respetuosas sobre el fenómeno de la prohibición de libros y explorar qué sucede cuando permitimos que la censura tome fuerza.
Este es un foro abierto sobre temas de libros, personajes y cuestiones que se consideran controvertidos. Algunas lecturas son fáciles, y algunos temas pueden ser pesados, pero consideramos que todos son necesarios.
