Providence Poetry Slam: Micrófono Abierto con Tatiana Johnson-Boria
Join us on Thursday May 7 for an open mic featuring Tatiana Johnson-Boria!
Doors & sign-up at 7pm. Show starts around 8pm.
Sign-ups are always in-person, day of the show.
Admission: $5-10 suggested donation, or pay what you can. No one turned away for lack of funds.
OPEN MIC – open to all artists of all genres, and all ages. Bring your stories, poems, songs–and your friends!
MORE ABOUT OUR FEATURE:
Tatiana Johnson-Boria (she/her) is the author of Nocturne in Joy (2023), winner of the 2024 Julia Ward Howe Book Prize in Poetry. As an educator, artist, facilitator, and mother; she uses her writing practice to dismantle racism, reckon with trauma, cultivate healing, and to explore the complex magic of mothering. She has received fellowships and awards from Tin House, the Massachusetts Cultural Council, MacDowell, the Brother Thomas Fellowship, and St. Botolph Club Foundation, among others. Tatiana is a 2017 Pushcart Prize nominee, teaches at GrubStreet, and has been on faculty at Emerson College, among other institutions. Her work appears or is forthcoming in The Academy of American Poets, Ploughshares, Kenyon Review, and more. She is represented by Lauren Scovel at Laura Gross Literary.

Tatiana Johnson-Boria (ella) es la autora de Nocturne in Joy (2023), ganadora del Premio Julia Ward Howe en Poesía 2024. Como educadora, artista, facilitadora y madre; utiliza su práctica de escritura para desmantelar el racismo, enfrentar el trauma, cultivar la sanación y explorar la compleja magia de la maternidad. Ha recibido becas y premios de Tin House, el Consejo Cultural de Massachusetts, MacDowell, la Beca Brother Thomas y la Fundación St. Botolph Club, entre otros.
