During the COVID-19 pandemic, David Lee Black and his friend began practicing drum rudiments in a park while socially distanced and masked. They quickly noticed public interest as passersby expressed curiosity and eagerness for more performances. This led them to invite additional drummers, gradually expanding their group into the PVD Drum Troupe, a nonprofit organization now comprising over 38 professional performers. The troupe aims to bring joy and unity through music, emphasizing harmony in a divisive world without engaging in politics. Natalie Hogan, a member of the troupe, highlights the creative growth it fosters, with participants exploring new instruments and artistic expressions like building large puppets. The PVD Drum Troupe serves as a supportive community where diverse individuals can develop their talents and share positivity through collaborative performances.
