Providence is celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month from September 15 to October 15, honoring the significant contributions of Latino communities to the city and the nation. Mayor Brett Smiley highlighted the vital role Latinos play in Providence’s economy, civic leadership, and neighborhoods, noting that nearly 86,000 residents identify as Hispanic or Latino. Despite national challenges faced by the community, Providence embraces its diversity and commits to fostering a welcoming environment for all.

In local events, the Summit Neighborhood Association (SNA) announced its annual Fall Cook-Off on October 30, featuring squash-themed dishes and Halloween costumes, along with a community cleanup on October 12. The SNA also invites residents to join its board to support neighborhood projects. Meanwhile, the West Broadway Neighborhood Association, together with Moniker Brewery and Haus of Codec, will host the Halloween Extravaganza at Dexter Park on October 25, offering live entertainment, food, a costume contest, and family-friendly activities. Additionally, the Mile of History Association plans its Annual Meeting on November 2 and the Holiday Stroll on December 6, continuing efforts to enhance the area’s appeal for visitors and residents alike.
