Gerald A. Greene, Sr.
Gerald A. Greene, Sr., a lifelong Providence resident, passed away peacefully at age 94 on September 23, 2026, at Our Lady of Fatima Hospital. Born to Charles and Mae Greene, he worked as a roofer foreman until retiring in 1996 and was a member of the Roofers & Waterproofers Union Local No. 33. Greene was devoted to his large family, surviving by six children, including Gerald Jr., Marie, Joseph, Dori, Bernadette, and James. He was predeceased by his wife Emmalina, two sons, Richard and William, and two grandsons. His legacy includes 14 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren, many of whom affectionately called him “Pops.” He was also survived by his sister Patricia Valis, numerous nieces and nephews, and his dog Max. In his final years, he received loving care from his children James and Dori. Funeral services were held on September 30, 2026, with burial at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Providence. Arrangements were managed by Skeffington Funeral Home.
Gerald A. Greene, Sr., de 94 años y residente de toda la vida en Providence, falleció pacíficamente el 23 de septiembre de 2026 en el hospital Our Lady of Fatima. Nacido en Providence, fue hijo de Charles y Mae Greene y estuvo casado con la fallecida Emmalina Fratus Greene. Trabajó como capataz de techadores hasta su jubilación en 1996 y fue miembro del sindicato Roofers & Waterproofers Local No. 33. Su mayor orgullo fue ser el patriarca de una numerosa familia, dejando seis hijos, 14 nietos, 24 bisnietos y tres tataranietos. Fue precedido en muerte por dos hijos y dos nietos. Además, le sobreviven su hermana Patricia Valis y numerosos sobrinos. En sus últimos años, recibió cuidados amorosos de su hijo James y su hija Dori. El funeral se realizará el 30 de septiembre en Providence, con posterior entierro en el cementerio Gate of Heaven en East Providence. La familia ha solicitado no enviar flores y los arreglos funerarios están a cargo de Skeffington Funeral Home.
