Mayor Brett Smiley Announces Full Festival Schedule, Return of LUV U BETTER Block Party to PVDFest

Mayor Brett Smiley and the Department of Art, Culture and Tourism announced the full schedule for PVDFest 2026, highlighting the return of the free LUV U BETTER Block Party on Friday, September 18, from 5 to 10 pm at the Providence Rink. The event, produced by stay silent, features R&B DJ sets spanning multiple eras and will include performances by Slick Vick, King Marie, Mozes, Charlie Tunes, and Where’s Nasty. Saturday’s headliner, Big Freedia, will perform at 8:30 pm on the Plaza Stage alongside Earl Bright & Elevated Choir, continuing PVDFest’s tradition of pairing local artists with nationally recognized acts. The choir will also perform earlier that day. PVDFest will run Friday evening and all day Saturday, September 19, with extended hours until 10 pm both days. Additional pre-festival events are scheduled for September 10 and 17. The festival will also feature Maker Spaces and Cultural Heritage Groups, offering attendees opportunities to engage with local artists and cultural traditions. El alcalde de Providence, Brett Smiley, junto con el Departamento de Arte, Cultura y Turismo, anunció el programa completo de PVDFest 2026, que se celebrará el 18 y 19 de septiembre con horarios extendidos hasta las 10 pm. Entre las novedades destaca el regreso del LUV U BETTER Block Party, una fiesta gratuita de R&B organizada por stay silent, que tendrá lugar el viernes 18 en Providence Rink de 5 a 10 pm. Este evento contará con DJ sets que abarcan distintas épocas del R&B, soul, música dance y hip-hop contemporáneo, con artistas como Slick Vick, King Marie y Mozes.
El sábado 19, la artista Big Freedia encabezará la noche en el Plaza Stage a las 8:30 pm, acompañada por Earl Bright & Elevated Choir, quienes también ofrecerán una presentación a mediodía. PVDFest mantiene la tradición de unir talentos locales con artistas reconocidos a nivel nacional e internacional. Además, el festival incluirá Maker Spaces y grupos de patrimonio cultural para promover la interacción con artistas y tradiciones locales.
