Florence Joyce (Shindler) Nachbar, 86, of Providence, passed away on July 21, 2026, at HopeHealth Hulitar Hospice Center. Born and raised in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Helen Shindler and spent part of her life in Pawtucket before returning to Providence. A 1958 graduate of Hope High School, Florence was dedicated to community service, notably volunteering with the Jewish organization B’nai B’rith. She annually staffed the Pawtucket Police Station phone lines on Christmas to allow officers to be with their families and also volunteered at Samuel Slater Middle School. Florence cherished gardening and family gatherings, especially during Rosh Hashanah and Thanksgiving. She was married to the late Leon Nachbar since 1963. She is survived by her sons Neil and Harris Nachbar, grandson Samuel Joseph Nachbar, and several nieces and nephews. Florence was the younger sister of the late Phyllis Weiner.
Florence Joyce (Shindler) Nachbar, de 86 años, falleció el martes 21 de julio de 2026 en el HopeHealth Hulitar Hospice Center de Providence. Nacida y criada en Providence, fue hija de Samuel y Helen Shindler y vivió en Pawtucket antes de regresar a su ciudad natal. Se graduó en 1958 de Hope High School y estuvo activamente involucrada en la organización judía B’nai B’rith. Entre sus labores de voluntariado destacaba ayudar en la estación de policía de Pawtucket durante Navidad para que los oficiales pudieran estar con sus familias, además de colaborar en la escuela secundaria Samuel Slater. Amante de la jardinería y de pasar tiempo con su familia, especialmente en celebraciones como Rosh Hashanah y Acción de Gracias, Florence fue esposa del fallecido Leon Nachbar, con quien se casó en 1963. Le sobreviven sus dos hijos, Neil y Harris Nachbar, su nieto Samuel Joseph Nachbar, así como varios sobrinos y sobrinas. También fue hermana menor de Phyllis Weiner, ya fallecida.
