We are trilled to announce The Grace Darko Band will join us for a live performance on Thursday, October 8th, 2026 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the 195 District Park. Please join us early to listen, dance and dance to musical sounds as diverse as the people of Rhode Island and the world. Tickets are free and RSVP is encourage!!!
About Grace Darko
Grace Darko is a vocalist, educator, and cultural storyteller whose work is rooted in the rich traditions of the African Diaspora and guided by the Sankofa philosophy—a concept from the Akan people of Ghana that means “go back and get it.” For Grace, Sankofa is not just symbolic, but a guiding principle through which she blends ancestral wisdom with contemporary artistry to cultivate immersive experiences that honor identity, foster connection, and activate healing. With a powerful voice that weaves Gospel, Afrobeat, Blues, Jazz, Neo-Soul, Folk, and Reggae, Grace invites listeners into spaces of reflection, joy, and transformation.
Born in the Bronx with Ghanaian and Togolese roots, she brings a deeply personal and global perspective to every stage she graces. A dynamic community builder and advocate for equity, Grace has served as an educator, organizer, and performer across New York, Rhode Island, and beyond—supporting initiatives that amplify marginalized voices, celebrate cultural identity, and build collective healing through the arts. From founding The Afro-Beat Experience at Colgate University to performing at cultural festivals and jazz venues across Rhode Island, her work is as soulful as it is intentional.
When she’s not on stage, Grace is mentoring students, advancing multicultural initiatives, or designing programs that bridge art, education, and social justice. Whether through music, movement, or message, she invites audiences to embrace their roots, step into their power, and move forward—together.
